Frequently asked questions
- As you mount the climber talk to your cat and let them sniff and get used to it so they know this new thing actually involves them.
- Let them check it out on their own—many cats do best when they think we don’t care.
- Most cats will sniff and claw it, especially if you spray catnip on it or dangle a string toy near the top of it.
- Feel free to pick them up and put them halfway up the climber and let them hang there with their claws in it. Don’t worry about them “getting stuck” or being afraid. Cats always figure it out.
- If they see a toy or something interesting above them, they’ll probably scurry up to check it out.
- Once they have the sensation of being able to climb, they’ll come back for more.
After nine to twelve months of enthusiastic climbing and scratching, the carpet on your Climber could become shabby. We want your Kiwi’s Climber to look fresh and new forever. Order replacement carpet sections from our website and follow the instructions to remove the old and replace the new carpet on your Climber sections.
Unless you stomp, smash, crush, or otherwise demolish the hard plastic core of a Kiwi’s Climber section, it will never wear out. That is the good and the bad thing about this type of plastic. It never goes away. So, if you no longer need it, please pass it on to a cat-loving friend. (Note: Shelters rarely take KC’s because of regulations about carpet not being disinfect-able).
- Sadly, not every cat enjoys their Climber. Older or heavy cats that have not had the opportunity to climb may not want to climb or lack the muscles to climb.
- If this is the case you can return your Kiwi’s Climber for a full refund, minus the shipping cost. No Problem and thanks for checking it out..
- Kiwi’s Climber sections have been made to fit standard 4.25” – 7.25” inch end cap walls and door jams. However, we know that every home is not “standard.”
- Some newer homes have wider end cap and “marriage” walls, while mobile homes and cinder block homes often have narrower inside walls.
- This is unfortunate however, you can return your Kiwi’s Climber sections for a full refund if your walls and our Climbers don’t fit.
We have a prototype for a drill-free Climber that fits in an inside corner. We also have two prototypes for drill-free ceiling platforms. It is unclear when we will have the resources to further engineer and manufacture these items. We are open to cat lovers who would like to invest their time and money into the development of these great products.
How do Kiwi’s Climber sections stay on the wall?
See what people are saying about Kiwi's Climber!
Very easy to install, adheres [to the wall] very
I think this is a brilliant solution for indoor cats and I wish Kiwi’s Climber continued growth. Love your customer service, too.

[Our cat] uses it all the time! Scratching our actual carpet less and less. Takes up no room at all in our small space but is very functional for the kitties. Love it!
Rebekah, Alabaster, AL
Will probably order 3-4 more soon! Honestly shocked that I haven’t seen this product before last month. It’s genius and should be on Shark Tank. I love it and I hope to see a shelf prototype one day! I am telling all the people I know with cats about it!!
Hanna, Seattle, WA
Mostly it’s our two youngest that use the climbers, but we have had all 5 give it a run. Cats love it!
Mike and Laryn, Cumming, GA
If money were no object, I’d order 3 more sections to go from floor to ceiling. It’s impressive how much they stay on [the wall], Cats have been able to climb and jump without any movement from the climber whatsoever

Manufacturing Information
Environmentally Friendly Factory
It took 47 phone calls to plastic extrusion manufacturers throughout the U.S. to learn that none work with recycled plastic. The closest manufacturer to our ethos is in Ohio, where scraps or “post production” recycled plastic is used rather than the gobs of “post consumer” recycled plastic that is floating in the oceans and piling up in American recycling facilities.
Sustainable Distribution
Kiwi’s Climbers will be assembled, orders fulfilled, packed, and shipped by formerly incarcerated women participating in a special program to prepare them for long-term employment.
Sustainable Materials
The plastic core of the Climbers are made in the U.S. from post production recycled plastic. The carpet coverings are made from recycled soda bottles. The cardboard shipping boxes and paper packing tape are easily recyclable and biodegradable.
